First and foremost a French journalist, Senes was the launch editor of contemporary fashion and lifestyle magazine Jalouse in 1997 and has subsequently written for everyone from ELLE to Air France magazine. This synergy between Senes and Entrecanales made Son Moragues the perfect backdrop for a picturesque shoot, where Senes styles the Kilometre Paris exclusives on herself. I have learnt that community is really big in Mallorca, there is an idea of togetherness about the island that I feel resonates so deeply with Kilometre Paris,’ she adds. ‘The way he celebrates the earth is the way I celebrate the earth so it’s an easy friendship. Senes – who splits much of her time between Paris, where she lives very close to the Notre-Dame cathedral, and the Balearic Islands – was encouraged to meet the uncle of an architect friend, Bruno Entrecanales, who bought a 250-hectare estate called Son Moragues in Mallorca and employed a team to restore the land to its former glory and reinstate the island’s artisanal techniques over five years. ‘I am always running, but during lockdown I took up walking in Mallorca and it allowed me to uncover so much of the island and the locals that inhabit it,’ founder Alexandra Senes shares over Zoom, while visiting her daughter in Montreal. It’s impossible to get away from the laid-back, sun-kissed Mallorcan spirit of Kilometre Paris’ newest capsule collection of colourful embroidered shirts, kaftans and bags – exclusive to MATCHES.
